Credit Hours:

Emmaus' Master of Arts in Ecclesial Counseling (MAEC) provides a vision for soul care as an element of life in the local church. Students will be equipped to implement biblical counseling ministries into the life of a congregation, highlighting the benefits of church-based counseling and integrating biblical counseling insight into the church's ministries of public teaching, small groups, outreach, biblical peacemaking, and church discipline.


The Emmaus MAEC is offered in partnership with Fieldstone Counseling.

—Hermeneutics (BT 501)


Historical Theology:

—Church History I: The Church to the Reformation (CH 501)

—Church History II: The Church from the Reformation (CH 502)


Systematic Theology:

—Theology I (TH 501)

—Theology II (TH 502)


Practical Theology:

—Christian Ethics (ET 501)

—Christian Missions (MS 501) or The Church Across Cultures (MS 502) or Religious Landscapes (MS 503)

—Biblical Spirituality (PT 501)


Ecclesial Theology:

—Ecclesial Theology (TH 503)

—Virtue and Ecclesial Formation (ET 503)


Ecclesial Counseling:

—Introduction to Ecclesial Counseling (EC 501)

—Theology of Ecclesial Counseling (EC 502)

—Methodology of Ecclesial Counseling (EC 503)

—Typical Problems in Ecclesial Counseling I (EC 504)

—Typical Problems in Ecclesial Counseling II (EC 505)

—Marriage and Family Counseling (EC 506)


Ministry Practicums:
